Back Pain

Back pain is one of the top reasons people start to visit a chiropractor for safe, responsible wellness and comfort. Our four locations see many patients who run the gamut of back pain experiences, ranging from mild discomfort to total immobility.

Back pain affects those of all ages, all athletic abilities, and all activity levels. If you live a life with any amount of back discomfort or if your mobility is affected due to back problems, a chiropractor will help.

Remember, when your body is in pain, it’s telling you that something isn’t quite right. Finding out what’s causing the pain is going to be the best first move. Not only will mending the root of the problem alleviate your discomfort, but it will promote balance and function and ensure more significant issues don’t arise.

Let our team help get control of your pain through safe, organic spinal treatments.

We can help your recovery if your back pain is causing you:

  • Discomfort while trying to support your daily habits
  • Making it difficult for you to complete your usual workout program
  • Mobility problems, making it harder and harder to move
  • Severe, chronic, or radiating pain
  • Any discomfort

Why Do I Have Back Pain?

The back is composed of the spine, which is a complex structure consisting of discs and small bones called vertebrae. These bones are all stacked on top of each other and run from the bottom of the brainstem through to the lower back.

This structure supports almost every move we make, so it’s pretty important to the body, as you can imagine. If our back is harmed, it can cause issues with the neck and hips or even strenuous headaches.

If you are experiencing back discomfort at any level, even if you believe it’s not significant, we recommend seeing your local Seattle chiropractor or local Portland chiropractor as soon as possible. A better-safe-than-sorry attitude is best when dealing with back pain. We’ve seen many patients who assumed their pain would dissipate on its own, but instead, it grew steadily worse in both significance and frequency.

Common causes of back pain

It’s not only serious accidents that cause back discomfort; it can be a simple everyday act like putting on your seatbelt that’s the culprit.

Some of the common causes of back pain we see in our offices include:

  • Fractures
  • Herniated discs
  • Pulled muscles
  • Muscles sprains and strains
  • Bruised tissue
  • Spine compression
  • Sciatica
  • Spinal stenosis
  • Spinal tumors
  • Arthritis
  • Osteoporosis
  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Scoliosis

If not treated adequately, these issues can worsen. Our doctors will provide chiropractic care and rehabilitation that’s safe and reliable. We never mask the pain but find its source using a variety of effective, proven techniques.

Because the spine is integral to our movements and function, the whole body can suffer if compromised. Working with a chiropractor to properly adjust the spine will provide balance and relieve pain before a more serious injury occurs.

“I came to Tangelo Fremont from a friend’s recommendation when I injured my back and pinched my sciatica nerve. I was unable to stand up straight, sleep, or walk without assistance. After seeing Dr. Krysann on the first day, I got off the table and stood up straighter than I had in almost 2 weeks and literally cried. She’s an absolute miracle worker and I love working with her!! I have to be honest, I was very hesitant about chiropractors because I’ve known people who have had bad experiences before but everyone I’ve worked with here are life savers. Sean has been a great cheerleader in my rehab exercises, I also am often impressed on how he can manage so many clients at once and give them cues and new exercises. He’s the absolute best!! I highly recommend this amazing team especially for athletes.” – Lauren M.

“This is THE place to go for help with chronic back pain and/or sports-related injuries or nagging conditions. The Tangelo team created a month-long program to help me strengthen and heal my lower back pain: through tissue work + strength, balance, & mobility exercises. I truly admire the philosophy and approach they take.  Dr. Mike Smith took a listen-first approach and Robb Lamb has provided exceptional guidance on the strength & mobility aspects of the program. I’ve battled this mysterious lower back pain for the past 4 years. I’m 27 years old, physically active, and determined to fix it. I had been to the doctor as well as several PT places over the past 3 years with no progress. Finally, I’ve found a solution. The team at Tangelo is helping me make significant progress, they are experts in what they do.”  – Josh B.
